Cagley & Associates, founded in 1973, as Martin & Cagley, a partnership between John A. Martin & Associates, Inc. and James R. Cagley, has engaged solely in the practice of consulting structural engineering since its inception. The firm has grown steadily both in the magnitude of projects designed and the ability to attract, develop and maintain an outstanding staff. In 1981, the corporation name was changed to Martin, Cagley & Middlebrook and subsequently in 1983 to Martin, Cagley & Associates.

In 1985, the firm became Cagley & Associates with James R. Cagley serving as managing principal. In early 1986, the firm was incorporated and The Cagley Group, Inc. was formed which owned an interest in the other affiliate offices located in Houston, Texas, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Debrethann R. Cagley Orsak became a stockholder and Vice President in 1997. In 2002, new Vice Presidents Daniel Camp and Frank Malits became stockholders.

In 2006, the ownership transition plan that was set into motion in 2002 was completed and James R. Cagley sold his remaining interest in the firm. Debrethann R. Cagley Orsak, Daniel Camp and Frank S. Malits are now the principal stockholders of the firm with James C. Lakey, Carmine Filoia, and Joseph Sharkey as minority stockholders. James R. Cagley remains with the firm and continues to serve on the Board of Directors.

Management of the firm is vested only in the officers, partners, and associates who are all professionals engaged in the daily conduct of the firm’s business.
